About Diamond Head Sands
The Diamond Head Sands condos are a throwback to the simpler life of Hawaii. Built in a time when these boutique properties were more common than today, they reflect that era still. That does mean that the amenities list isn't a long one. It also means a community more in harmony with the beautiful scenery around it than more recent structures.
With only 3 floors in each of the 3 buildings, the complex is low enough to be hidden behind Waikiki Elementary School, just across the way from the Honolulu Zoo and Kapiolani Park. The Diamond Head Sands is an integral part of the neighborhood, not the dominant feature as most modern Honolulu condos would be.
Here you walk to the small shops and restaurants on Monsarrat Ave that have, for good reason, very loyal local followings. Extend that stroll a few more minutes and you're on Kapahulu Ave, where you'll find even more ono eateries, all geared to discerning local tastes, rather than the tourist trade.
The beach is just across Kapiolani Park, including Queen's Beach and Kaimana Beach, stretches of sand that are as good as those in central Waikiki, but much less crowded.
The units at the Sands are on the smaller side, Studios going from 333 to 371 sq ft, the 1BRs taking in from 483 to 660 sq ft. Life here isn't about space inside, though, it's about the glorious outside that surrounds you here in every direction. Just pick one.
